The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched an investigation and issued notices to Nestle India and Hindustan Unilever over misleading nutritional and health claims. As part of the investigation, it is alleged that Nestle's 'Resource Renal Vanilla Flavour Powder' product failed to obtain the necessary prior approvals and violated labeling regulations.
Meanwhile, the health claims made in Hindustan Unilever's 'Horlicks Mother’s Plus Kesar' and 'Horlicks Women’s Plus' products—such as healthy birth weight, bone health, and sugar-free content—are being questioned. Hindustan Unilever denied the claims, stating that they comply with regulatory requirements and will submit evidence, while Nestle India has not yet issued a response.
