Netanyahu Calls for New Alliances with India and Latin America
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that relations with India and Latin America should be developed due to concerns that a hostile administration against Israel could take office in the US in the future.
In statements made ahead of upcoming elections, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed that new international alliances must be built with India and Latin America against the possibility of changing relations with the US in the future.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his country could encounter US administrations in the future that might adopt a hostile stance toward Israel, noting that preparations must be made for this situation. Speaking ahead of the upcoming October 27 elections, Netanyahu emphasized that alongside the current strategic partnership with Washington, strengthening relations with new geographies such as India and Latin America is essential. These remarks came right before US President Donald Trump publicly announced his support for the Israeli Prime Minister's reelection.
Netanyahu argued that the remaining years of the Trump administration should be utilized in the best way possible to solidify Israel's position, posing the question: "In two years, a president who might approach Israel very hostilely could take office. How will you act against this?" The Prime Minister stated that he is working to establish new alliances with many countries within and outside the region, noting that alongside India, political developments in Latin America and potential changes in Brazil also present important opportunities.
Israeli analysts pointed out that increasing reactions within the US Democratic Party wing stem from Netanyahu's past preferences, while drawing attention to the fact that this tension is being used by Netanyahu as an election strategy in domestic politics to project a strong leader image.
