New Artificial Intelligence Program for Undergraduate Students from USC
In the spring 2027 semester, the USC Dornsife, Marshall, and Viterbi faculties are offering a new joint program that will address artificial intelligence from various dimensions.
The new three-course initiative jointly launched by the USC Dornsife, USC Marshall, and USC Viterbi faculties will provide undergraduate students with different perspectives on how artificial intelligence works, how it is used, and its impact on humanity.
Joint Initiative from Three Different Faculties
Realized in collaboration with the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, the USC Marshall School of Business, and the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, the project allows students to examine artificial intelligence from a versatile perspective.
Scope and Details of the Courses
The two-credit course series named AI Essentials covers how artificial intelligence works, how it will be used in professional life, and how it will affect society and the future. Open to students from all majors, these courses do not require any technical background prerequisites.
The Relationship Between Humanity and Artificial Intelligence
While topics such as existential risks, consciousness, synthetic biology, and creativity are covered in the courses within USC Dornsife, the importance of artificial intelligence literacy beyond its technical and professional benefits is emphasized.
