New classification rules and biosecurity standards are being implemented for cattle, water buffalo, sheep, and goat enterprises in the livestock sector. The infrastructure that enterprises must possess, inspection processes, and the transition schedule have been detailed.

Class C Enterprise Conditions

In Class C enterprises, in addition to the conditions determined for Class D, the enterprise boundaries will be enclosed with walls, fences, or wire mesh to prevent the entry of animals.

If animals are housed in open areas, protection areas against adverse weather conditions will be created, and automatic drinkers and livestock scales will be provided.

Class B Criteria and Health Certificate

In addition to the conditions required in Class C, Class B enterprises are required to have a disease-free enterprise health certificate determined by the Ministry.

Mandatory Conditions for Class A

In Class A enterprises, in addition to Class B conditions, it will be required to employ a veterinarian and biosecurity procedures will be applied in all sections.

A disinfection tunnel for vehicles and a cabin for visitors will be located at the entrances and exits, and an emergency plan will also be prepared.

Inspection Processes and Transition Period

Livestock enterprises will be inspected by provincial and district agriculture and forestry directorates in terms of physical infrastructure and biosecurity conditions.

It was reported that active livestock enterprises registered in the Ministry database will be classified within one year and those whose classes change will be re-evaluated.
