Within the scope of the new regulation prepared by the Ministry of Family and Social Services regarding children's use of social media, those under the age of 15 are banned from opening accounts, while various restrictions are introduced for the 15-18 age group.

Age Limit and e-Government Verification

With the new regulation, it is aimed to completely prevent children under the age of fifteen from opening accounts on social media platforms.

Restrictions Imposed on Young Users

For users between the ages of fifteen and eighteen, the features of starting live broadcasts and making screen recordings are banned.

Features that can create habits, such as continuous scrolling and endless scrolling, are also limited for this age group.

Privacy and Security Measures

Accounts of individuals in the fifteen to eighteen age group will be private by default, and follower information will be hidden.

Security will be increased by ensuring that these users can only receive messages from accounts they follow themselves.

Implementation Calendar and Compliance Period

The prepared new social media practice is planned to officially enter into force on November 1, 2026.

Relevant social media platforms have been granted a period until March 31, 2027, to fully comply with the new rules.
