"CEO Chief Ministers": Nikhil Kamath On What India Can Learn From China

Zerodha co-founder and investor Nikhil Kamath evaluated the lessons India could learn from China's economic model at the NDTV World Summit held in New Delhi. Kamath suggested that chief ministers could trigger development and economic growth by acting like corporate CEOs.

Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath stated that India is struggling to compete with the US and China in the global artificial intelligence and technology sectors due to a lack of venture capital. However, he emphasized that the country possesses competitive advantages, such as significantly lower infrastructure and electricity costs.

Citing the competitive dynamics between Chinese provinces as an example, Kamath suggested that inter-state competition in India could be encouraged and that chief ministers could operate like corporate CEOs. He noted that while China is not officially capitalist, its regional governments operate with a high level of corporate competition.
