Students and NGN take a sound bath for Mental Health Week

Within the framework of Mental Health Awareness Week at Northeastern University London (NU London), a sound bath event was organized at the university's London residence area, Chapter Spitalfields. Students and staff participated in the event.

Led by Sherene Banner, a sound healing specialist from London-based wellness provider Circular Flow, the 30-minute relaxation session produced deep sound vibrations using metal and crystal glass Tibetan singing bowls and an ocean drum for about eight participants.

Participants in the event included Wilf Fitzpatrick, community coordinator at NU London, and Jonah Sullivan, a first-year engineering student. Professor Elizabeth Bucar from Northeastern University's Department of Philosophy and Religion noted in her book 'Beyond Wellness' that while sound baths are gaining popularity for mental well-being, scientific research into their precise physiological effects—such as altering brainwave states or stimulating the vagus nerve—is still in its early stages.
