The Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute and South Korea's Changwon National University signed a 5-year cooperation agreement in the fields of nuclear science, technology, and artificial intelligence.
The Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) and South Korea's Changwon National University (CWNU) have signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding covering joint work in nuclear science, technology, artificial intelligence applications, and human resources development.
The Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) and Changwon National University (CWNU) in South Korea met at a working meeting held in a hybrid format in Hanoi on October 23, 2026. Attended by VINATOM Director Dr. Tran Chi Thanh and CWNU President Prof. Minwon Park, the event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at researching, developing, and applying nuclear science and advanced technologies. The opening of CWNU's Asian Representative Office in Hanoi was also discussed at the meeting.
Under the agreement, the parties aim to conduct joint research on small modular reactors (SMRs), nuclear safety simulations, advanced materials, artificial intelligence-based environmental radiation monitoring, and non-destructive testing technologies. While CWNU will provide graduate training programs and scholarship opportunities for Vietnamese personnel, the collaboration also seeks to strengthen academic ties between the two institutions through expert exchanges, joint seminars, and inter-laboratory cooperation.
