OpenAI Transformed Coding Tools into Personal Assistant 'dots'
OpenAI has introduced 'dots', an AI assistant for ChatGPT Pro subscribers that manages user calendars, emails, and computer tools.
At its developer day in late September, OpenAI announced 'dots', an always-on AI personal assistant designed to proactively manage user tasks. Alexander Embiricos, the company's head of enterprise product, explained at the TechCrunch Disrupt event that this product evolved from the company's agent-based coding tools.
Available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers starting at $100 per month, the assistant aims to perform tasks such as flagging conflicts or analyzing interruptions through access to user calendars, emails, and computer systems. While focusing on privacy controls that allow users to opt out of model training and manage resource access, OpenAI continues to refine the balance between granular control and proactive utility. Embiricos also noted that discussions are ongoing with payment processors regarding the assistant's future capabilities.
