Regional crises and peace perspectives were addressed at the R4 and R4+E3 foreign ministers meetings held in Istanbul, hosted by Turkey.
The 9th Istanbul Mediation Conference and the R4 and expanded R4+E3 foreign ministers meetings were held in Istanbul under Turkey's host. Regional and global crises were discussed during the meetings, and Israel's policies were condemned.
Foreign Ministers and high-level representatives from Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy attended the meetings held in Istanbul under the host of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. It was stated that the R4+E3 format came together for the first time with this participation. Crises in the Middle East, the Black Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, and Bab-el-Mandeb were put on the table during the meetings.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that the participating countries do not want the war to spread, stating that they agreed that a potential new attack against Iran would widen the conflict. In the joint statement published on behalf of the R4 group, the Israeli occupation was described as the main source of instability, and support for a Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 borders was reiterated.
