Jalen Hurts placed on injured reserve after Eagles quarterback diagnosed with blood clot

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was placed on the injured reserve list on Saturday following the diagnosis of a blood clot in his calf.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that Jalen Hurts would be unable to play against Carolina. The club stated that the player took a cleat to the calf during the October 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams, and that Hurts reported this to the medical staff after practice on October 8.

The Super Bowl LIX MVP award-winning player had returned to practice before traveling to London for the Jacksonville game. The Eagles announced that a superficial blood clot was detected in an ultrasound performed on Saturday, October 10, following the flight to London.

Doctors in London and the club's medical staff emphasized the importance of mobility and decided that the player could safely play, recommending a follow-up ultrasound upon the return to Philadelphia and within 72 hours after the game.
