Physical progress on the Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train Project exceeds 50 percent
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that physical progress on the ongoing Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train Line has surpassed the 50 percent mark. Once the project is completed, travel time between Ankara and Kayseri will be reduced to 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that work on the Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train Project has reached a significant milestone, announcing that the physical progress of the line has exceeded 50 percent. The 142-kilometer-long line is being constructed as a double-track, electrified, and signaled railway suitable for speeds of 250 kilometers per hour.
The project, which will be integrated with the Ankara-Sivas High-Speed Railway, will include Kayseri in the high-speed train network. Starting from Yerköy and reaching Kayseri via Şefaatli, Yenifakılı, Himmetdede, and Boğazköprü, the line aims to reduce the travel time between Ankara and Kayseri to 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Sharing data regarding the project's logistics capacity, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the line is projected to transport 5.5 million passengers and 13.5 million tons of freight annually. Located on the Middle Corridor, the line is expected to strengthen commercial relations between Turkey and the countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Within the scope of construction works, a total of 15 tunnels with a length of 17,329 meters and 27 bridges with a length of 6,608 meters are being built. Excavation work for the T1, T2, T3/4, and T5 tunnels has been completed, while the construction of 25 underpasses, 91 culverts, and one overpass has been finished. Reinforced concrete and excavation works continue on other engineering structures.
