Overheating issues have been detected in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, which was slated for use in Samsung's new flagship Galaxy S27 Ultra model. Following the tests conducted, it was reported that the company is re-evaluating the Exynos 2700 chip.

It has emerged that there may be changes in the processor plans for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which Samsung will introduce next year. According to a report shared by SEDaily, internal performance tests conducted by the smartphone department revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor reaches high temperatures and experiences performance drops under sustained load.

This situation, which was determined to exceed specified temperature thresholds during tasks under continuous high load and lead to thermal throttling, was communicated by Samsung to Qualcomm last month. The company gave a deadline until mid-October to meet thermal, stability, and performance standards.

It is stated that if Qualcomm fails to achieve the desired level within this timeframe, Samsung is ready to use the Exynos 2700 chip. As the decision phase approaches for the Galaxy S27 series, whose mass production is planned to begin at the end of the year, it has not yet been clarified whether Snapdragon will be completely abandoned or if different processors will be used regionally. Samsung last featured an Ultra model with an Exynos processor in 2021 and 2022.
