Proposal for an AI Central Bank to Balance Risk and Value in the Workplace
With the increasing use of artificial intelligence in workplaces, it has been proposed to establish an AI Central Bank, serving as a virtual control plane, to ensure the balance between risk and value.
As the use of artificial intelligence tools in workplaces rapidly grows, organizations are advised to establish an "AI Central Bank" as a virtual control plane to balance value and risk elements, increase transparency, and manage the technology. Announced at the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo event in Orlando, it was stated that this model aims to provide universal coordination and accountability rather than centralization.
Gartner Fellow and Vice President Daryl Plummer stated that the AI Central Bank establishes accountability, governs technology, guides the economy, and creates collective intelligence. Kristin Moyer, another Gartner Fellow, emphasized that this structure is not a centralization move, but rather focuses on ensuring alignment, coordination, and collaboration between humans and machines.
According to Gartner's second-quarter research, 58 percent of leaders derive positive value from artificial intelligence initiatives. However, IT leaders think that risk is growing faster than value. In this context, it was conveyed that managers should balance momentum and resistance, supporting "AI entrepreneurs" among employees who produce creative solutions.
