Qatar Strongly Responds to Allegations of Interference in Israeli Elections
Qatar has rejected claims by Israeli politicians and media that it interfered in the elections, describing them as ridiculous and dangerous.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari flatly denied allegations that his country interfered in Israeli elections or financed activities aimed at influencing the results. Meanwhile, as the counting of ongoing election results in Israel continues, it was reported that no group has yet reached the 61 seats required for a majority in the Knesset.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari stated in a social media post that the claims made by certain Israeli politicians and media circles do not reflect reality. Al-Ansari emphasized that they categorically reject allegations that Qatar interfered in the Israeli elections or funded any activities to influence the results, stating that they find these accusations both ridiculous and dangerous.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had claimed that Arab-Israeli parties were trying to steal the election with outside support after his coalition lost its parliamentary majority. While Netanyahu and his allies demanded that the Shin Bet investigate allegations of vote buying and irregularities within Palestinian communities, main opposition bloc leader Gadi Eisenkot argued that the Prime Minister and the Likud party were trying to undermine the election results.
According to Haaretz, with 97 percent of the votes counted, the balance between political blocks remains intact. Netanyahu's coalition holds 53 seats, Eisenkot's block 48, and parties representing Palestinian citizens hold 19 seats, while it was noted that no group has reached the 61 seats required for a majority in the Knesset.
