Qualcomm has denied claims that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset overheats during internal testing and that Samsung might therefore switch to the Exynos 2700 processor in its Galaxy S27 Ultra series.

Following reports in the Korean press regarding the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra and new flagship devices expected to be introduced next year, it was claimed that Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset suffered from thermal throttling during internal tests, and that Samsung could therefore completely switch to the Exynos 2700 processor in the new series. After the claims spread, Qualcomm's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) stated via social media that reports regarding thermal issues do not reflect the truth and that they continue to work with partners to deliver premium experiences.

The next-generation processor comes with two main cores at a 5.0 GHz frequency and six performance cores at a 4.0 GHz speed. Qualcomm emphasized that there is no chronic system-level overheating issue, that manufacturing partners optimize the devices in their own laboratories, and that leaked test data can be misleading.
