Reasons for smartphones heating up during charging and manufacturer warnings

Smartphone manufacturers Apple, Samsung, and Google have explained the conditions under which devices heating up during charging can be considered normal and the precautions that should be taken in case of overheating.
While smartphones heating up during charging is among the situations frequently encountered by users, fast charging technologies, wireless chargers, and applications running in the background can increase the temperature. According to official support statements from Apple, Samsung, and Google, a certain level of temperature increase is considered normal, but precautions must be taken if the device overheats, displays a temperature warning, or stops charging. While a portion of electrical energy turns into heat during charging, Samsung states that it is normal under certain conditions for the phone and adapter to get warm while charging. Apple points to wireless charging as one of the processes that can cause the device to warm up temporarily. Playing games, watching videos, making video calls, or downloading large files while charging increases the load on the processor and battery, while according to Google, data transfer and backup operations can also raise the phone's temperature.
According to Apple's statements, when the temperature rises, screen brightness may decrease, device performance may drop, and the charging process may slow down. Google also reports that when excessive temperature is detected in Pixel phones, processor performance may be reduced, and connection and camera features may be restricted. Manufacturers recommend disconnecting the charging cable in case of excessive temperature and waiting for the phone to cool down under suitable conditions. Apple explains that iPhone and iPad devices are designed to be used in ambient temperatures between 0 and 35 degrees Celsius, while recommending seeking technical support if the device continuously warms up during normal usage, shuts down repeatedly, or if charging problems persist.
