Sağlık-Sen Warns of Staff Shortages at Adana City Hospital
Sağlık-Sen Adana Branch President Bekir Nennioğlu has requested urgent appointments from the Ministry of Health due to staff shortages and heavy shift burdens at the hospital.
Sağlık-Sen Adana Branch President and Memur-Sen Adana Provincial Representative Bekir Nennioğlu called on the Ministry of Health to take action, highlighting the difficult working conditions faced by healthcare workers during a press statement in front of Adana City Hospital.
Nennioğlu stated that the shortage of personnel in healthcare facilities has brought employees to the point of burnout. The statement emphasized that a nurse works 24-hour shifts 12 to 15 times a month, which corresponds to a monthly workload of 288 to 360 hours. A demand was made for at least 300 new midwife and nurse appointments for Adana City Hospital.
Arguing that current personnel planning does not align with the realities on the ground, Nennioğlu stated that meeting the staffing needs of newly opened hospitals through assignments from other institutions weakens the system. Addressing Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, Nennioğlu requested that the personnel distribution chart be reorganized according to the number of staff actually working.
