Second Ebola Case Confirmed in Kenya and Warning Issued by WHO
Following the detection of a second Ebola case in Kenya, the World Health Organization has urged the public and authorities to remain vigilant.
A second Ebola case has been confirmed in a 39-year-old man who is a close relative of the first patient in Kenya, while authorities have placed over forty contacts under surveillance.
Second Case and Quarantine Process
It was announced that the second Ebola case detected in Kenya is a close relative of the first patient who passed away on October 5. Symptoms appeared on October 13 in the 39-year-old man, who was among the contacts placed in quarantine.
Democratic Republic of the Congo Connection
It was stated that the outbreak in question is directly linked to the ongoing fatal outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The first Ebola patient in Kenya, a local man, had traveled to Nairobi via Uganda.
Contact Tracing and Health Precautions
Health authorities have closely monitored more than forty people, including airline passengers, crew members, airport staff, and family members, meticulously tracking the contacts.
WHO's Assessment and Support
WHO Representative Dr. Neema Rusibamayila Kimambo praised the Kenyan government's efforts in tracing contacts and placing them in quarantine, describing them as successful.
Warnings and Trainings for the Public
While the World Health Organization donated medical supplies, it trained more than four thousand healthcare workers and called on the public to remain calm.
