World@VCU: Ognjen Vukić from Serbia

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) News, in its World@VCU series conducted in partnership with the Global Education Office, featured Ognjen Vukić, a Serbian undergraduate student studying media scoring at the School of the Arts.

Stating that Serbia is located in southeastern Europe and is known for athletes such as Novak Djokovic, Nikola Jokić, and Bogdan Bogdanović, as well as scientists like Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, Ognjen Vukić cited VCU's learning approach focused on practical experience rather than just theory as his reason for choosing the university. Expressing that his first performance with the Small Jazz Ensemble during his first semester at VCU was one of the most memorable moments that impacted him, Vukić noted that some minor cultural differences between American and Serbian cultures, such as initial shyness, were surprising at first, but these boundaries disappeared when making music. Vukić aims to compose and arrange original music for films, television series, and artists in the future.
