Shell announced its financial results for the third quarter of the year. Accordingly, the company increased its net profit by 99 percent in the third quarter of 2026 compared to the same period of last year, bringing it to $10.81 billion. This reported result came in above the market expectation of $10.33 billion. The company also announced a $5 billion share buyback program for the next three months.

Shell's third-quarter profit showed an increase compared to the levels of $5.43 billion in the same period of 2025 and $9.83 billion in the previous quarter. While $3.04 billion of the profit in the June-September period was generated from the integrated natural gas business segment, $3.19 billion was obtained from the upstream business segment, which covers oil and gas extraction.

Disruptions in energy supply following the conflicts in the Middle East, which drove refinery profit margins to record levels, and the increase in liquefied natural gas prices were influential in the rise of the profit. Shell Chief Executive Officer Wael Sawan emphasized that they achieved strong results during this period when serious disruptions continued in the global energy system, and announced that they will launch a $5 billion share buyback program for the next three months.
