Workflow context for AI agents with Smartsheet MCP on AWS | Amazon Web Services

Smartsheet has announced the general availability of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This protocol enables AI assistants like Amazon Q and Kiro to read, write, and manage Smartsheet data using natural language.

The Model Context Protocol Server offers a standardized protocol featuring over 40 tools to discover, create, and manage sheets, rows, columns, and automations. This allows users to update task statuses, create new rows, and modify project structures directly through natural language.

Integrated with the system, Amazon Q provides an agentic AI workspace allowing business users, project managers, and operations teams to ask questions, update sheets, and build dashboards without writing code. Designed for developers, Kiro connects with Smartsheet via MCP to reference project specs, update task statuses, and track dependencies.
