Kyiv stated that most of the drones it uses to launch attacks against targets behind the frontline have been rendered inoperable due to this restriction, and that air defense systems have been hindered.

Separation of Starshield and Starlink

Starshield is a business unit within SpaceX that develops military and intelligence satellite systems for the Pentagon. The Starshield service is separate from Starlink's commercial broadband service.

Elon Musk and the Role of the US Government

Elon Musk said that the Ukrainian military relies on Starshield because Starlink is not licensed to customers using weapons, and that the responsibility for any outages lies with the US government rather than SpaceX.
