Special Arrangement for RIL Shareholders in Reliance Jio IPO Draft Document
The Reliance Jio initial public offering draft document provides a separate quota advantage for existing RIL shareholders, featuring a 2 lakh rupee upper limit and dual-bidding capability.
The initial public offering (IPO) draft offer document prepared for Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) shareholders offers a significant structural advantage to investors. The draft document states that a separate category alongside a dual-bidding right is granted to existing shareholders, and individual applications are capped at a maximum of 2 lakh rupees.
According to the draft offer document, public RIL shareholders holding individual or Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) status who wish to benefit from the allocated shareholder quota will be able to apply through this special queue. Within the scope of the relevant regulation, investors can submit bids from this reserved portion while simultaneously making a separate application in either the general retail or non-institutional investor (NII) categories. Regulatory-wise, this is not considered a multiple bid, preventing applications from being rejected on that ground.
Timing stands out as the most critical stage in determining shareholder eligibility. According to the draft prospectus, the record date to be taken as the basis for identifying eligible shareholders has been determined as the day the Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) is officially filed with the market regulator. On the other hand, the draft document includes a transfer mechanism stipulating that in the event the shareholder quota is not fully subscribed, any unfulfilled shares will first be transferred to the employee reservation, and subsequently allocated to the general retail and non-institutional categories in a 70:30 ratio.
