Spotify Removes 50 Million AI Songs From Its Recommendations
Spotify has removed approximately 50 million songs from its recommendation system in order to clean up low-quality artificial intelligence content. In the music world, artists such as Grimes and A$AP Rocky maintain a cautious stance against the use of artificial intelligence.
Spotify has announced that over the past year it removed approximately 50 million songs identified as low-quality artificial intelligence generation, described as 'AI slop', from its recommendation lists.
While the platform continues to support AI-powered tools in playlist creation and remixing processes, it has implemented 'AI persona' badges for non-human artist profiles. The company stated that its editors do not program spam or low-quality content.
The perspective on artificial intelligence in the music industry is shifting. Artists like Grimes and A$AP Rocky, who previously showed interest in this technology, now state that they prefer to produce music through traditional methods. On the Billboard charts, it is also observed that listeners are turning toward works recorded with analog instruments.
Kelly Clarkson expressed the proposal that music produced by artificial intelligence should not be evaluated in the same category as human-made works and should compete on separate lists.
