Statement on the US from Iranian President Pezeshkian
Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that they do not trust the US regarding peace, while reports indicated that Trump opposed Israel's plan to attack Iran ahead of the elections.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the US cannot expect dialogue while imposing pressure and embargoes, and that they do not trust its sincerity regarding peace. Meanwhile, it was reported that US President Donald Trump opposed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to attack Iran in order to prevent the conflict from flaring up again ahead of the midterm elections.
During a speech at a parade in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that dialogue cannot be established with the US while blockades and threats against his country continue. This statement appeared in state media a day after Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir visited Tehran to discuss mediation efforts and regional developments.
According to a report by the Financial Times based on three sources close to the matter, US President Donald Trump opposed the attacks that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu planned to launch against Iran in early October, aiming to avoid reigniting the conflict ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. The Israeli defense forces' attacks targeting nuclear facilities as well as regime and energy infrastructures were scheduled to take place over the weekend of October 10.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in an interview with Iraq's Al Ekhbariya channel that they have not yet received a response from Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen regarding mediation initiatives. As developments continue, the Iraqi side closed the Sheeb border crossing to passenger and commercial vehicle traffic.
