Shortages of doctors, facilities, and equipment at health stations in the Kien Hai Special Region complicate medical examination and treatment processes on the island, while the target is to assign 4-5 doctors to each station and equip them with modern devices by 2027.

Merger of Health Stations

Four health stations located in the Kien Hai Special Region of An Giang province were gathered under a single roof after the merger to provide uninterrupted service to the local population.

Current Workload and Personnel

The center in Bai Nha A village, together with the Hon Tre, An Son, and Nam Du stations, serves an average of 45 patients per day. The unit carries out its operations with a total of 41 personnel, including 9 doctors.

24/7 Duty Pressure and Tasks

Dr. Pham Huu Nam, Director of the Kien Hai Special Region Health Station, stated that the 24/7 duty requirement and new tasks create significant pressure on the core personnel.

2027 Targets and Planned Investments

Chung Tan Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, reported that they aim to have 4-5 doctors working at each station by 2027 and to provide modern clinical equipment such as ultrasound and electrocardiogram machines.

Right Equipment and Technology Transfer

While investing in the right equipment to prevent island residents from having to travel to the mainland, technology transfer and personnel training will also be implemented.

Policies to Retain Personnel

Since it is difficult to attract talented personnel to coastal and island regions, incentive policies such as housing support, a favorable working environment, and professional development opportunities are needed.
