Strategic Partnership Era Initiated Between Turkey and Canada

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the launch of a Strategic Partnership between the two countries following their meeting at the Presidential Complex. This contact marks the first official visit by a Canadian Prime Minister to Turkey.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated during the joint press conference held after his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the Complex that a new era has begun in relations. Erdoğan emphasized that this step would not remain merely symbolic.

Canadian Prime Minister Carney recalled that his visit was the first official prime ministerial visit to Turkey. The leaders announced that they have reached an agreement on a three-year Action Plan covering trade, energy, defense, and people-to-people relations.
