Speaking at a scientific conference held on October 19, former Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung argued that strong research universities should be evaluated based on their ability to solve major problems for the military and the country, rather than by the number of projects or publications.

At the scientific conference organized by the Academy on October 19, former Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung stated that the success of research universities cannot be reduced to the number of projects and publications. Mr. Hung emphasized that mastering technology involves fulfilling tasks, while mastering a problem involves identifying the issue to be solved and the value it will create. He noted that instead of short-term, fragmented research, large-scale problems spanning 5-10 years should be pursued.

Major General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Military Technical Academy, also stated that there needs to be a shift from indicators to mastering strategic technologies. Major General Dr. Duong Minh Hai, Head of the Military Science Department under the Ministry of National Defense, emphasized that research must stem from practical combat and technical support needs.
