Supply concerns in oil shape prices and market expectations
While geopolitical risks in the Middle East create price pressure in the oil market, the International Energy Agency called for stock releases and Goldman Sachs revised its forecast.
As conflicts in the Middle East increase risks to energy supply and strengthen price pressure in global oil markets, the International Energy Agency called on member countries to rapidly release diesel stocks to the market, and Goldman Sachs raised its December Brent oil forecast.
Middle East Conflicts and Supply Risks
The increase in risks to energy supply due to conflicts in the Middle East is causing price pressure in global oil markets to strengthen. This situation brings the impact of supply security and geopolitical risks back to the center of the agenda.
International Energy Agency's Diesel Call
The International Energy Agency has called on member countries to release diesel stocks to the market faster and to consider additional reserve releases. IEA President Fatih Birol asked countries that have not yet completed their commitments to take action as soon as possible.
Reserve Release and Historical Decisions
The 32-member IEA, which includes the US and many European countries, had decided in March following the Iran war to release 400 million barrels from emergency oil reserves. This step went on record as the largest emergency reserve release in the organization's history.
Goldman Sachs Price Forecast Revision
Goldman Sachs raised its December Brent oil price forecast from $85 to $90 per barrel, citing supply risks in the Middle East and the possibility of escalating conflicts.
