Taiwan Defense Minister Koo Responds to China's Anniversary Propaganda
Taiwanese Defense Minister Wellington Koo criticized Beijing's commemoration events surrounding the island's anniversary, describing them as "cognitive warfare."
Taiwanese Defense Minister Wellington Koo evaluated China's release of satellite imagery and military propaganda posters on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Japan's handover of Taiwan to Chinese rule as "cognitive warfare."
Speaking to reporters at the parliament in Taipei, Taiwan Defense Minister Wellington Koo stated that China is using this anniversary for propaganda purposes. Reminding that the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, Koo emphasized that there is no direct link between World War II and the People's Republic of China, and that this is a clear fact.
The Beijing administration had published high-resolution satellite photos, including Taipei's train station and the National Palace Museum, on the anniversary. Meanwhile, the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese military shared a poster titled "Remember the History of Restoration" featuring fighter jets and warships alongside a map of Taiwan.
