TEKNOFEST Award-Winning Tulpar Team Targets Domestic Engine Projects
The Tulpar team, which took third place in the TEKNOFEST Jet Engine Design Competition, aims to contribute to domestic engine projects with the lightweight and original nozzle system they developed.
Composed of Selçuk University students who achieved third place in the TEKNOFEST Jet Engine Design Competition, the Tulpar team aims to support domestic engine studies with the innovative nozzle system they developed.
Inspired by the winged legendary horse figure in Turkic, Kyrgyz, Altai, and Bashkir mythologies, the Tulpar team consists of Furkan Cengiz and 4 friends studying in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Selçuk University's Faculty of Technology. The team achieved the lightest design in the competition by designing the nozzle system that expels hot gases behind the engine at high speed.
Developed with a convergent-divergent axisymmetric structure and having 2 degrees of freedom, the system can increase exit velocity and system efficiency. Weighing 58.95 kilograms, the design offers advantages such as cost reduction, time savings, and more synchronous operation. The team aims for this part, where thrust and velocity can be adjusted independently, to contribute to the technological development of domestic engine projects.
