Tezhip Art Workshop Held at Boğaziçi University

The second of the workshops bringing tezhip, one of traditional Turkish decorative arts, together with young university students took place on October 20, 2026, at Albert Long Hall, Boğaziçi University. In the event realized with the support of Türk Altın, students were introduced to the art of tezhip hands-on by mixing paints and drawing under the guidance of illuminator Nurdan Erkal.

Organized with the support of Türk Altın, the event served as a continuation of the workshop series whose first meeting was held at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Tophane Kasrı. Thanks to this organization, Boğaziçi students found the opportunity to directly meet the colors and motifs of tezhip.

Illuminator Nurdan Erkal stated that the workshops carry great importance in terms of young people establishing a bond with traditional arts. Erkal expressed that the experience students gained during this process could turn into an artistic pursuit in the following years and that the effect of this first encounter might emerge over time.
