The second session of the 20th symposium by Zeytinburnu Culture and Art, titled "The World of a Thinking Writer: Peyami Safa," was held on Friday, October 23, at 17:15. Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aytaç Ören, the session featured evaluations on the author's literary and intellectual world by Prof. Dr. Özlem Fedai, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Zeki Çıraklı, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Birgül.

Prof. Dr. Özlem Fedai focused on Peyami Safa's social observations during the modernization process, explaining how the author reflected the conflict between the group detached from its roots and the segment tied to traditional values in his novels. Fedai stated that there are different phases in Safa's intellectual journey and that he remained in an 'other' position within the literary canon.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Zeki Çıraklı examined the narrative structure in the novel 'Ah Minel Aşk,' written under the pseudonym Server Bedi. Çıraklı expressed that the narrator in the novel is aware that their own narrative is not flawless and is in a constant process of revision with the author, drawing attention to the questioning of the work's power to convey the truth.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Birgül touched upon Peyami Safa's philosophical interests, recalling that the author made references to Heidegger's 'What is Metaphysics?' in 1933. Birgül emphasized that the speech titled 'Philosophy and Dialectics,' published in the 'Yeni Türk' magazine, provides important data for understanding the author's perspective on the metaphysical.
