Recent research published in an international journal has revealed that comments made on social media regarding traffic accidents directly shape young people's perspectives on the events and their intentions for aggressive behavior.

Scope and Location of the Research

The study, published in the journal Health Communication, examined how comments on social media shape individuals' ways of perceiving events.

Experts Behind the Study

The research was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Trong Hue, Tran Ngoc Anh Vu, Nguyen Hoang Mai, Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Thanh, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiaying Liu.

Participant Profile and Experimental Method

Conducted with 621 students aged 18-24 at a university in southern Vietnam, the main analyses of the study were carried out on 500 individuals.

In the experiment, participants were shown videos containing traffic accident simulations along with social media comments reflecting different viewpoints.

The Impact of Comments on Young People's Behaviors

The results indicated that video content alone did not directly increase the perception of traffic violence, but comments encouraging violence showed their effect.

Social Acceptability and Tendency Toward Violence

It was observed that young people who read comments encouraging violence tended to find such aggressive behaviors more socially acceptable.

New Recommendations for Traffic Safety

Experts emphasize that traffic safety awareness campaigns must consider not only civil videos but also online interactions.
