The Play 'Rabia Hanım, the Female Gunslinger' is Being Staged at Phebus Auction House
Adapted for the stage from Reşad Ekrem Koçu's work, Sinners Behind the Lattice: Rabia Hanım, the Female Gunslinger meets theatergoers at the Phebus Auction House in Asmalımescit following its festival screenings.
Adapted from the work of Reşad Ekrem Koçu and produced by Tülin Özen and Yağmur Dolkun, the play 'Sinners Behind the Lattice: Rabia Hanım, the Female Gunslinger' has completed its screenings at the 30th Istanbul Theatre Festival. Continuing to be staged at the actual auction house, Phebus Auction House in Asmalımescit, the production transports the audience to 17th-century Istanbul and into the world of Rabia Hanım, shaped around desire, power, and violence.
Bringing the characters, desires, and crimes of Istanbul historian Reşad Ekrem Koçu to the stage, the production forms a new link in the stage research that began last year with Çerkes Rıdvan's Cabinet. Taking place in a real auction house, the audience bids on objects of desire to become a part of the space and the story. Featuring Bedir Bedir as the narrator, the play's music is prepared by Gökçe “CheChe” Gürçay, Volkan İncüvez, Özlem Kaya, and Miray Eslek. In its initial November performances, the production will meet the audience on November 14 and 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
