Musical Gatherings in the Historical Madrasah
The Merzifon Çelebi Sultan Mehmet Madrasah Science, Culture, and Art Center, operating under Amasya University, hosts a meaningful cultural and artistic event.
The Religious Music Madrasah Meshks held in the historical madrasah meet with art lovers every Friday evening, contributing to the social life of the region.
The Centuries-Old Meshk Tradition is Kept Alive
One of the most important features of the Religious Music Madrasah Meshks is the continuation of the meshk tradition, which is one of the deeply rooted training and transmission methods of Turkish music.
Thanks to this tradition, which is based on the master-apprentice relationship, not only the notes and lyrics of the works are transmitted, but also their performance styles, nuances, and musical culture.
Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tahir Çağman
The meshk programs are carried out under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tahir Çağman, Vice Dean of the Amasya University Hattat Hamdullah Faculty of Fine Arts.
While distinguished works from different periods of Turkish religious music are performed in the programs, great care is taken to preserve the traditional performance approach.
