Trump Says "Gotta Stop" Killing Iran Leaders To Know Who US Is Dealing With

Speaking at a rally on Sunday, US President Donald Trump stated that as a result of airstrikes conducted by the US and Israel, no leaders are left in Iran, adding that they are facing difficulties in finding a counterpart to sit at the negotiating table.

At his rally on Sunday, US President Donald Trump stated that Iran has been left without elements such as aircraft, ships, and leaders, expressing that first- and second-tier leaders have been eliminated. Trump stated that they need to take a break from this situation in order to figure out who they will negotiate with. In the opening weeks of the war, the US and Israel killed numerous top political and military leaders in airstrikes, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who was seriously injured, has not yet appeared publicly despite issuing statements.

While clashes between the two countries have temporarily ceased, Trump signaled that attacks could resume after the November 3 midterm elections, and deployed a third aircraft carrier group and 10,000 troops to the region. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that a potential resumption of war would not change his country's positions, emphasizing that their policies will remain the same whether there is war or not. Araghchi also noted that shipping routes and the management of the Strait of Hormuz have changed, and that these new realities must be accepted.
