According to data from Deloitte's Turkey Sports Ecosystem and Sector Report 2026, Turkey's sports tourism market has risen to the level of 1.1-1.4 billion dollars with the contribution of international organizations, football camps, and golf tourism.

The Rise of Sports Tourism

The sports tourism market in Turkey has reached the level of 1.1-1.4 billion dollars with the contribution of international organizations, football camps, and golf tourism. The sector's share in total tourism revenues was approximately 2 percent.

Per capita spending of tourists traveling for sports purposes can rise to 1.5 to 2 times the general tourist average. This situation makes high-spending foreign visitors important sources of growth.

Antalya and Football Camps

Turkey ranks among the prominent destinations in sports tourism with its climate advantage, advanced accommodation facilities, and international transport connections.

European football teams choosing Antalya as a training camp center during the winter period makes a major contribution to tourism activities not being limited to the summer season.

Major International Events

Istanbul's hosting of the 2027 European Games and Turkey's candidacy for the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games draw attention.

UEFA EURO 2032, to be organized jointly with Italy, the EuroLeague Final Four, and UEFA finals attract visitors with high spending potential to Turkey.

Belek and Golf Tourism

Golf holds an important place in Turkey's sports tourism revenues, and the Belek region of Antalya stands as the central location in this field.

The annual economic size of golf tourism in Turkey is estimated to be in the range of 200 to 250 million euros.

New Investment Areas

Within the scope of efforts to spread golf tourism in Turkey to regions outside Antalya, planned investments in Dalaman draw attention.

Bodrum, the surrounding areas of İzmir, and Mersin also rank among other regions evaluated as new golf tourism destinations.
