Ukraine and NATO Develop Artificial Intelligence to Predict Russian Drone Attacks
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced the development of an artificial intelligence model in partnership with NATO to predict the timing and location of Russian drone attacks in advance.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that an artificial intelligence model developed jointly with NATO to predict the location, timing, intensity, and type of Russia's drone attacks will begin being used.
Features of Model No. 13
The new artificial intelligence tool, named Model No. 13, analyzes past conflict data, weather conditions, and battlefield situations to determine with high probability how Russian troops will use drones. This solution has been validated with real-world datasets and made ready for integration into the situational awareness systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Developing Institutions and Other Projects
Model No. 13 was jointly developed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO Allied Command Transformation, with the support of the Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops are also testing another jointly created artificial intelligence model called Model No. 32, which is still in the prototype stage, to plan the deployment of artillery units.
Integration and Existing Systems
It is likely that the developed Model No. 13 will operate within Ukraine's DELTA battlefield management system, which already uses an artificial intelligence module called Vezha to automatically detect and mark Russian military equipment.
