Ukraine Says Russia's Claimed Territorial Advances Are 'An Illusion'

Ukraine has announced that claims regarding Russia capturing more than 1,800 square kilometers of territory and about 100 settlements, including Dobropillia, since the beginning of September do not reflect the truth.

Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov stated in a briefing to President Vladimir Putin on Friday that Russian forces had seized 92 Ukrainian settlements and achieved significant territorial gains since the beginning of last month.

Andriy Kovaliov, a spokesman for the General Staff of Ukraine, denied these claims, reporting that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have liberated more territory since the start of autumn than the enemy has managed to capture.

Kovaliov also dismissed assertions that Russian troops had reached the outskirts of Kramatorsk, advanced into the suburbs of Sloviansk, or captured Dobropillia, emphasizing that Dobropillia remains under Ukrainian control.

The claims regarding the front lines in question could not be independently verified.
