Energy Facilities Ceasefire Has Ended
In an interview with the Financial Times, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his country's patience has run out and attacks on energy facilities will resume, thereby breaking the temporary silence between the parties.
US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks on energy sites, prompting Kyiv to suspend its attacks on Russian refineries following this development.
Rosneft Refinery in Ryazan Targeted
Ukraine's latest target was a major refinery located southeast of Moscow in the Ryazan region, belonging to the state-owned oil giant Rosneft.
Regional Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed in an official statement via Telegram that a large Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire at the facility.
Statements from Leaders
Russian President Vladimir Putin downplayed the impact of long-range Ukrainian strikes, arguing that these moves produced nothing particularly significant.
Zelenskiy, on the other hand, harshly criticized Trump's willingness to make a deal with Russia and his stance towards Vladimir Putin.
International Developments and Reactions
In the days following the ceasefire declared by Trump, Russia had continued its missile and drone attacks, including on energy targets.
Meanwhile, UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting publicly expressed satisfaction with the restoration of the Starlink service on Ukrainian territory.
