Marine Corps Ordered to Call AI 'Super Intelligence' Under New Policy

Pursuant to the newly issued directive MARADMIN 521/26, the US Marine Corps announced that the expressions "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" will be replaced by "Super Intelligence" and the abbreviation "SI" in official documents.

The new regulation, signed on October 23, stipulates the adoption of the term super intelligence instead of artificial intelligence in Total Force products to the maximum extent permitted by law. This enacted decision covers official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents, briefings, training materials, and other non-legal products. Content owners are required to update existing websites and reusable templates as they revise them. Current laws, contracts, and legacy titles are excluded from the scope.

This terminology change was implemented as an application of Executive Order 14434, signed on September 29, which mandates the executive branch's adoption of SI terminology.
