The U.S. Navy has mandated the use of the term 'Super Intelligence' (SI) instead of 'Artificial Intelligence' (AI) in all official correspondence and documents, following President Donald Trump's announcement that the artificial intelligence term is being retired.

It was reported that following U.S. President Donald Trump's statement on September 29 and the subsequent decree, the expression 'super intelligence' will be used instead of the term 'artificial intelligence'. While the decree stated that these capabilities represent a new era of super intelligence, Trump stated in his social media post on October 8 that those using the old term would be targeted.

Following this development, the U.S. Navy issued a new directive covering all echelons, commands, and personnel. According to the directive, it was instructed to use 'Super Intelligence' and the abbreviation 'SI' in all official documents, including official correspondence, flag letters, operational orders, war game documents, instructional materials, and public communications.

Within the scope of the policy, which entered into force as of the date of publication, echelon commanders and system commanders are required to review all publicly available shares, intranet portals, and external presentations for compliance and submit a report within 30 days. It was noted that existing laws and statutes will continue to be used as a matter of status until congressional amendments are made.
