Warning on early diagnosis and regular follow-up in fatty liver disease
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ertuğrul emphasized the importance of early evaluation and regular follow-up in MASLD patients, calling on individuals at risk to consult a physician.
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ertuğrul from Medicana Ataköy Hospital Department of Gastroenterology stated that early evaluation is of vital importance in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). He emphasized that individuals who are overweight, have diabetes, hypertension, insulin resistance, or high blood lipids should consult a physician.
Dietary habits and physical inactivity brought by modern life are increasing the incidence of fatty liver disease. Progressing mostly without symptoms, this condition can lead to liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and in advanced stages, liver cancer. Experts state that factors such as obesity and type 2 diabetes play a significant role in the development of the disease.
