Evacuations issued as multiple wildfires ignite in hot, windy California

High temperatures and strong Santa Ana winds affecting the state of California have caused multiple wildfires to break out in the Camp Pendleton, Azusa, and Malibu areas, while evacuation orders and warnings have been issued for thousands of people.

Fire Starting in Camp Pendleton

The largest fire, named the Henderson fire, broke out at Camp Pendleton, a Marine Corps training base in San Diego, scorching over a thousand acres of land.

Flames Around Los Angeles

In addition to the Henderson fire, evacuation warnings were issued for two separate brush fires: the Peak fire in Azusa and the Bryson fire in Malibu, located in the Los Angeles area.

Meteorological Warnings and Winds

The National Weather Service announced that strong and dry Santa Ana winds, expected to last until Saturday, will affect mountainous areas with severe gusts reaching up to 70 miles per hour.

Power Outages

Utility companies cut off power supplies as a precautionary measure to reduce the risk of fallen power lines triggering new fires, leaving thousands of customers in the dark.
