Workshop on CCUS Technologies Held for Net Zero Goal in Vietnam
A workshop on Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, to support the country's 2050 net-zero emissions target.
On October 27, 2026, a workshop titled Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Technology was held in Hanoi to support Vietnam's goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
The workshop, attended by executives, experts, scientists, and businesses from Vietnam and abroad, discussed the research, application, and transfer potential of CCUS technology. It was emphasized that CCUS technology could be a significant solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as cement, steel, oil and gas, chemicals, and energy. It was stated that CO₂ captured from production processes could be used as raw material or transported to suitable geological structures for long-term storage.
In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Trong Yen stated that achieving the net-zero target requires fundamental innovations in growth models, production methods, and resource utilization. He underscored that emission reduction solutions must be selected based on scientific principles, feasibility, and the country's actual conditions while ensuring energy security and enhancing the competitiveness of businesses.
