Zeki Çeler: Sağlık, eğitim ve ekonomide planlama şart

Socialist Democracy Party (TDP) Leader Zeki Çeler held a meeting with the former KTAMS administration as part of preparations for the December 6 elections. The meeting, which was also attended by Nicosia Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı, as well as parliamentary and municipal council candidates, discussed proposed solutions to the country's fundamental problems.

Stating that problems in the healthcare sector cannot be explained solely by a lack of budget, Çeler expressed that implementing general health insurance is possible. Pointing out shortages of doctors, nurses, and medicine, Çeler criticized the ongoing staff shortages despite the opening of new hospitals. Çeler argued that referrals to private healthcare institutions could be reduced by strengthening institutions that train nurses and efficiently planning working hours in the public sector.

In the field of economy, noting that uncertainty drives investors away, Çeler stated that rules regarding the acquisition of immovable property by foreigners must be predictable. Touching upon the importance of production in the fight against the cost of living, Çeler conveyed that opportunities for local soybean production are being explored to lower input costs in livestock farming. Recalling that the country spends approximately 23 million dollars annually on soybean imports, Çeler shared the evaluations of the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers regarding local production.
