Access Block Imposed on Accounts Conducting FETÖ and Disinformation Activities on Social Media
In an operation targeting FETÖ-linked accounts and influence agents that target Turkey's national security and produce provocative content, access to 2,034 social media addresses was blocked.
Within the scope of a coordinated operation against social media accounts conducting disinformation and black propaganda against Turkey, access was blocked to a total of 2,034 social media accounts, including FETÖ-linked accounts as well as those belonging to Erk Acarer and Dilek Ekmekçi.
Details of the Coordinated Work
The Directorate of Communications, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Cyber Crimes Department carried out a joint effort.
As a result of the technical and legal work carried out, digital accounts at the center of perception operations threatening national security were identified one by one.
FETÖ-Affiliated Accounts Shut Down
Access to 7 different X accounts, determined to be directly linked to FETÖ and making posts targeting national security, was blocked through judicial channels.
The accounts that were shut down included Cemil Çiçek, Sincan Cezaevi Bilgi, Niyazi Şanlı, Sefa Demirel, Kadının Sesi Platformu, Ömer Faruk Güven, and the account named kuvvetesell.
Steps Against Influence Agents
Influence agents Erk Acarer and Dilek Ekmekçi, who are fugitives abroad and broadcast provocative publications against Turkey, were also targeted by the decisions taken.
Access to provocative focal points, including Erk Acarer's main user account, was completely blocked.
Total Number of Blocked Accounts
Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran announced that access restriction measures were implemented regarding a total of 2,034 social media accounts over the past two months.
It was stated that 699 of these accounts were FETÖ-affiliated and targeted national security, while 1,335 were profiles directly producing provocation.
