Access Blocked for 99 Accounts Targeting Judicial Decisions in the Narin Güran Case

The Diyarbakır Criminal Judgeship of Peace has imposed an access block on 99 social media accounts determined to have conducted systematic disinformation targeting the final judicial decisions upheld by the Court of Cassation in the case of eight-year-old Narin Güran, who was murdered in Diyarbakır.

Access Ban Decision

The Diyarbakır Criminal Judgeship of Peace decided to block access to 99 social media accounts that were determined to have systematically carried out disinformation against the decisions upheld by the Court of Cassation in the Narin Güran case.

Sentences Handed Down in the Main Trial

In the main trial regarding the murder of Narin Güran, which was concluded on December 28, 2024, the court sentenced Narin's mother Yüksel Güran, her uncle Salim Güran, and her brother Enes Güran to aggravated life imprisonment for acting in concert to commit the willful murder of a child.

Neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to moving the lifeless body to the stream, had been sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in the initial trial for destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of the crime.

Court of Cassation Review and Retrial

Completing the appeal review of the case file, the Court of Cassation upheld the aggravated life sentences given to the mother, uncle, and brother. As for the defendant Nevzat Bahtiyar, the Court of Cassation overturned the verdict, ruling that the defendant should be tried for aiding and abetting willful murder.

Brought before the judge again following the reversal decision, Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 17 years in prison as a result of the trial.
